Another fascinating NJ sportsbook review as FanDuel leapfrogged DraftKings Sportsbook. On record, the state of New Jersey surpassed $1 billion in sports betting revenue. Meanwhile, FanDuel leapfrogged DraftKings Sportsbook as the most profitable sportsbook in NJ.
At the end of December 2018, NJ Sportsbooks made an estimated total of $319 million in wagers. This generated about $20.8 million in revenue for all operators. A 6.5 percent win. Of this estimated $20.8 million revenue, FanDuel Sportsbook was the shining star with $9,110,014. However, DraftKings trailed behind with $6,886,735.
In a measure, $330 million was staked in November, generating an estimated $21.2 million in revenue. DraftKings took away $7,330,503 of the revenue in November compared to $7,043,394 for FanDuel.
FanDuel Sportsbook’s blindman’s bluff from just over $7 million in returns to slightly more than $9 million is a new record for any sportsbook in New Jersey. Despite DraftKings Sportsbook’s ($6,690,969) pulling in more online revenue than FanDuel Sportsbook’s $5,532,837, FanDuel’s retail presence at Meadowlands Racetrack pushed them to the top in December. The Meadowlands netted $3,577,177 while Resorts, associated with DraftKings, did just $195,766 in retail revenue.
So, while FanDuel Sportsbook was the top sportsbook in New Jersey in both handle and revenue, there’s still significant room for growth with the Super Bowl and March Madness taking place over the next two months.
