The Washington Football Team will face the New York Giants in an NFC East clash on Sunday. The battle between two struggling teams will begin at 1 pm ET.
The Washington Football Team started the year with some hope after a win against the Philadelphia Eagles. But they have not won a game since then, losing to the Cardinals, Browns, Ravens, and Rams.
But that one win is keeping them out of last place in the NFC East, as that spot is taken by the winless New York Giants. It has been a bad season for this New York team, especially after losing Saquon Barkley to a season-ending injury.
The Giants have lost against the Steelers, Bears, 49ers, Rams, and Cowboys. They came close last week against the Cowboys but weren’t able to hold on to win.
QB Problems in Washington
The Washington Football Team has used three quarterbacks so far this season. At first, it was Dwayne Haskins, who started the first four games but hasn’t seemed prepared to run an NFL offense.
The next guy up was Kyle Allen. After Washington traded for Allen in the postseason, he had some success in several quarters against the Rams. However, he is struggling to stay healthy.
The report is, Allen will be the starter for this one. His backup will be Alex Smith, who made his way back on the field last week for the first time since a gruesome injury two years ago.
Smith playing in a game in the NFL after that injury was a shock to many. Once a very successful quarterback, Smith will serve as the backup for Allen.
Can the Giants Pick Up a Win?
The Giants will have a big chance to pick up a win in this one. As a winless team, they need to take advantage of playing the Washington Football team.
The NFC East is absolutely terrible. The Dallas Cowboys lead the conference with two wins, so really, the Giants aren’t that far behind.
The hope for a successful season was partially sucked out of the Giants when Barkley went down. He is the reason people tune in to the Giants’ games.
Quarterback Daniel Jones doesn’t have the best stats for the season. He only has two touchdowns to go along with five interceptions. He will need to improve if the Giants want to win.
Darius Slayton has been his top target. So far, he has caught 23 passes for 365 yards.
Prediction
The Giants enter the game as three-point favorites. I believe they are the better team, but not by much.
This one is tough to call, but I will go with New York to cover the spread. They will pick up their first win on Sunday. Since the NFC East is terrible, this keeps them close to the leader.
The over/under is set at 42.5. With it being so low, I’ll take the over. These teams will have some success on offense playing each other when they struggle against quality teams.
The Giants move to 1-5 with the win.
