This Monday night, MLB hosts nine games to pass the time. Some of these matchups are electric, even between hometown rivals.
These teams have an incredible amount of talent, paired with betting opportunities. Some of the closer games tonight may not be as close as they seem, and some odds may not tell the full story.
Below are three teams you need to bet on tonight that can give you an incredible amount of upside on the first day of the work week.
New York Mets
This game can go in multiple different directions, with the Yankees needing a win on their home turf. However, there are just too many factors in the Mets’ favor tonight that I can’t overlook.
Most notable, Max Scherzer is starting for the Mets while the Yankees throw Domingo German on the mound. There’s an apparent difference in skill level between the two, with Scherzer having over 2.00 less in ERA.
The Yankees are 3-7 in their last ten and have dropped below the Mets in overall record. As of right now, the Mets are the better team and carry a fairly healthy roster. It will take a lot of star power to take down the Mets, so their run line of -1.5 should be an easy take.
Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers may be the best team in baseball at the moment, with an astounding 84-36 record. However, the Milwaukee Brewers have a good amount of upside, sitting at second in their division.
Looking again at the starting pitchers, I have to stick to the Dodgers and Julio Urias here. He’s having a career year in ERA at 2.40 and has a 13-6 record on the season. Although I am an Eric Lauer fan, he just doesn’t seem up to standard this year. He’s dipped in production, and in his last ten games, he hasn’t dipped below a 3.55 ERA.
The Dodgers are also one of the better defensive units in baseball, with the second most runs saved in the league. If they can put it all together against the Brewers, the -250 moneyline seems like an easy take.
Sleeper Pick – Los Angeles Angels
The Angels are playing an incredibly talented team in the Tampa Bay Rays, who would be at the top of a couple of divisions if they moved. They have an incredibly talented roster and would be difficult to beat.
Although Tucker Davidson is not performing well, he’s young with a decent amount of upside. Even with a low ERA, the Rays aren’t a powerhouse offensive team.
Jeffrey Springs is a great starter for the Rays, but the one thing you can’t take from the angels is their ability to hit the ball. Their batting rotation will get the ball on the ground and get guys on base, making the Angels my sleeper pick on the day.
The over/under is O 7.5 at +105, and I could see this game make an incredible impact on the scoreboard. Regardless, with the Angels at the underdog, they may come out and dominate an unsuspecting Rays squad.
