The 4-2 Tennessee Titans play host to 3-3 Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, hoping to win three games in a row. The last time these two teams played was back in January of 2020, when the Chiefs won by a score of 35-24.
You can watch the Week 7 rematch on CBS or DAZN. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00pm EST at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
Henry Should Feast On Chiefs Front-Seven
Derrick Henry remains the best running back in all of football, and no one compares when it comes to his stiff-arming and freak-sized nature. Henry is averaging 4.83 yards a carry and leads the NFL in rushing yards by a comfortable length. The former Heisman winner should go off against a vulnerable Chiefs defense who are allowing an average of 133.2 yards on the ground.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill and the passing offense has struggled mightily so far, but a mix of play-action should get star receivers Julio Jones and A.J. Brown going in this matchup as well. Pro Bowl tackle Taylor Lewan most likely won’t play due to a concussion, but it shouldn’t be a problem against a Chiefs D-line that has been manhandled thus far in 2021.
The Chiefs are also very banged up on defense, as star safety Tyrann Mathieu and defensive tackle Chris Jones were both limited in practice this past week.
Mahomes Needs To Cut Down On Interceptions
Patrick Mahomes continues to throw for an absurd amount of touchdowns but has had turnover problems in 2021. Mahomes has already thrown more interceptions than he did last season, and the superstar quarterback simply can’t afford to make any mistakes this week against the AFC South leaders. The Titans will try to win this game by dominating time of possession on the ground with Derrick Henry, so Mahomes will have to put in one of his vintage performances.
The Titans remain vulnerable against potent aerial attacks, so head coach Andy Reid should be able to draw up big looks for both Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce in this one.
Betting Analysis
It’s never easy to fade Mahomes, but the Chiefs’ defense is absolutely dreadful, and Tennessee’s offense should be able to absolutely dominate their unit from start to finish. The only thing that will stop Tennessee from losing this game is settling for field goals, but I expect Mike Vrabel to be aggressive and consistently have his team go for it on 4th and short in the Chiefs’ end of the field.
I have this game projected as more of a pick’em, so taking the Titans and the points is a wager I feel pretty good about.
