The NFL has had more COVID-19 related news this week than it has so far this season. Several games have been pushed back or canceled because of positive tests.
However, there was still plenty of action going on during the day on Sunday.
Falcons Lose Again
The Atlanta Falcons are now 0-5! Not a great start for a team that was in the Super Bowl not long ago. This team has Matt Ryan, Todd Gurley, and plenty of weapons on the edge that make them a great offensive team.
They were missing their start wide receiver in the loss to Carolina as Julio Jones sat out on Sunday. Ryan threw for 226 yards and one interception.
On the other side, Teddy Bridgewater had a great game for the Panthers. He threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns.
The Falcons were 2.5 points favorites for this game with an over/under of 54. Those who took the Panthers and the under were happy after this one. It ended 23-16.
Browns Keep it Going
The Cleveland Browns lost their opener to the Baltimore Raves, but have been on a winning streak ever since. They played the Colts this weekend and won 32-23. The Browns entered the game as the one-point favorites, and they showed why it should’ve been a bit more.
Defense had a lot to do with this one, with Philip Rivers and Baker Mayfield both throwing two interceptions each. However, there was still enough scoring to hit the over of 49.
The Browns will have to keep it up since they are in such a tough division. The Ravens are 4-1 and the Steelers are 4-0.
49ers Get Blown Out
The San Francisco 49ers played awful against the Miami Dolphins. After playing without Jimmy Garoppolo for a few games, they got him back for this one. He still got removed for poor play after halftime.
Ryan Fitzpatrick had a heck of a game for the Dolphins. He threw for 350 yards and had three touchdowns.
The over/under was 51, which the Dolphins almost got by themselves. The 49ers were the eight-point favorites and were never really in this game. Miami ended up winning 43-17.
Prescott Goes Down for Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys faced off against the New York Giants on Sunday. These are two teams that have been struggling this season.
Dak Prescott only threw for 166 yards before going down with an ankle injury. He was carted off of the field with tears in his eyes, which was not a good sight for Cowboys fans. He will likely miss considerable time, if not the remainder of the season.
The Cowboys were still able to pull out the win, mostly because the Giants look like one of the worst teams in the NFL this season, with the loss pushing New York’s record to 0-5.
The Cowboys did fail to cover the 7.5-points spread, so a bet for the Giants paid out in this one. The over of 52 easily hit as the Cowboys won 37-34 on a last second field goal.
