SETON HALL AT ST. JOHNS BETTING PREVIEW

St. John's hosts a struggling Seton Hall team trying to salvage their season and sneak into the NCAA tournament.

Seton Hall Pirates comes into this game with an overall record of 13-11 to go along with a conference record of 10-8, not bad for a school who lost arguably its best player in school history in power forward Myles Powell. They have already beat this same St John’s Red Storm team back in December of 2020 by a score of 77-68. That would have covered the spread that has been set for this game.

St. Johns comes into this game with an overall record of 15-10 to go along with their conference record of 9-9. St. Johns has something that Seton Hall does not have, a win against a top ten ranked team. St. Johns beat the ranked No. 10 Villanova Wildcats a month ago in February by a score of 70-59. However, St. Johns comes into the Big East tournament “limping,” so to speak, as they’ve lost two of their last five games.

Seton Hall betting preview:

Seton Hall really struggled towards the end of the season, losing three of their last four games. The Pirates have shot the ball from the field well this season with a total of 45% and a little above average 3 point shooting at 33% on the season so far. The last game between these two teams was a rough shooting night from beyond the arc, with both teams shooting below 30%, Seton Hall shot 29%, and St. Johns 19%. Hopefully, both teams show an improvement in shooting from beyond the arc and are able to spread the floor more in this meeting.

Seton Hall has an overall record of 40-52 against St. Johns through 92 career games throughout these two teams’ storied history facing one another. This game will feature a senior who is also a projected NBA draft pick, Sandro Mamukelashvili, who is Seton Hall’s best player averaging 18 points and 8 rebounds a game for the Pirates, playing 35 minutes a game while also shooting 45% from the field and 35% from three-point land on the season.

St Johns betting preview:

St. Johns enters this game on a cold stretch but has shown that they can bounce back when they need to. Earlier in the season, after they lost to Creighton twice and Xavier once all over the span of a week, they bounced back and won three of their next four games in an impressive stretch against Butler, UConn, and Utah Valley.

They also have a star of their own in Julian Champagnie. Julian is averaging 20 points per game while averaging 7 rebounds also on a per-game basis, all on 43% shooting from the field. This is the best St. Johns team since they won the Big East tournament back in 2000, and I do not think people are giving this team enough credit because this team can hang around with the best the division one basketball has to offer.

St. Johns and Seton Hall Odds and Lines:

FanDuel has the Pirates favored by 4.5 points, with the over/under set at 124.5.

My free pick of the night is the Seton Hall Pirates moneyline at -220.
