With the NHL fully back from its All-Star break, there is no shortage of storylines and action for Thursday night. Anyone wanting to add some extra to their bankroll for the Super Bowl will have more opportunities to get money down on different sports. Here’s a look at a few games worth parlaying.
Iowa Hawkeyes at Purdue Boilermakers over 149.5 (-110)
The Boilermakers haven’t been a team that has necessarily been involved in many shootouts this season. However, Purdue has shown as of late that it isn’t afraid to push the pace if the opportunity is available. The Boilermakers, who have seen the over go 10-14 this season, have seen the total go over in their past four games.
Purdue averages 74 points per game, but the Boilermakers are especially effective on the defensive side of the ball. Purdue ranks 13th nationally by allowing 61.1 points per game and only allowing its opponents to shoot 30.6 percent from the 3-point line. Iowa is unafraid of being involved in wild slugfests.
The Hawkeyes rank 18th nationally by scoring 81.5 points per game. Iowa also allows 73.5 points per game. The total has gone over the number of 14 of the Hakweyes’ 23 games this season.
Chicago Bulls (+128) at Brooklyn Nets
The Bulls may be catching Brooklyn at the right time. The Nets have started their firesale by shipping Kyrie Irving to Dallas and Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns. Chicago has gone 6-4 against the spread over the past ten games.
While the Bulls have struggled this season, Chicago’s been an efficient offensive team. Chicago shoots 49 percent from the field, which ranks fifth in the league. The Bulls are 16th in scoring defense, allowing 113.8 points per game. Brooklyn has lost three of its past four games.
The Nets are 8-2 against the spread during their last ten games. It will be difficult to trust Brooklyn, which is going through a lot of turmoil right now. Chicago will steal one amidst the chaos on the road.
Seattle Kraken at New Jersey Devils (-167)
The Devils have been living on the edge. New Jersey has seen six of their past seven games go to overtime or shootouts. How things have gone for New Jersey has been extremely well. The Devils have won four of their past five games in overtime.
New Jersey has also seen seven of its past ten games go over the total. The Devils rank seventh in the league in scoring, having put up 3.5 goals per game. New Jersey also put 34.4 shots per game on net, which is fourth-best in the NHL.
The Kraken has been an effective team at scoring. Seattle ranks fourth in the league by scoring 3.6 goals per game. The Kraken also limit shots against them, only allowing 28.1 shots to be put on net.
