Sports betting has continued to enter legislation across the country. It has continued to become legal in a growing number of states across the country.
This will create several new business opportunities for current and new sports wagering companies. These partnerships have even started with professional teams.
A year ago, the NFL would have never allowed teams to partner with any platform that advocated sports gambling. However, the Supreme Court ruling two years ago has had a strong impact.
The NFL has realized that fans are going to bet on football one way or the other, and it would be the wrong play to not get in on the action.
On Monday, the Denver Broncos and FanDuel Group announced a multi-year partnership. This is making FanDuel an official sports betting partner and an official daily fantasy partner of the Broncos.
“FanDuel has built a strong reputation as a premier gaming destination for sports fans,” Denver Broncos CCO Mac Freeman said in the release. “The ways they smartly reach people through engaging and entertaining content is in line with the Broncos’ innovative thinking when connecting with our fans.”
First In Line
The NFL opened this category last month, and the Broncos are the first team to take advantage. This deal is the first sports betting partnership with an NFL team. Colorado is one of the latest states to allow sports betting.
“With FanDuel’s successful launch into Colorado earlier in May, we believe Broncos fans will enjoy FanDuel’s trusted mobile sports betting and daily fantasy platforms,” said Freeman.
But this isn’t going to start and end with the Broncos. If successful, more and more teams will begin to join in similar agreements. FanDuel is hopeful that this leads to a unique customer experience that will convince more NFL teams to come on board.
“Colorado is home to a passionate sports fan base and independent spirit, and, together with the Broncos, we’re going to take the fan experience in Colorado to the next level,” FanDuel Group CMO Mike Raffensperger said in a news release.
“With the NFL season just around the corner, partnering with an innovative organization like the Denver Broncos allows us to offer engaging fan experiences both inside and outside the stadium and access to unique betting promotions and content.”
This deal will allow FanDuel to use the Broncos logo on their betting platforms. They will also be allowed to market FanDuel at the Broncos stadium through their TV’s and radio broadcasts.
Just The Beginning
This move could be the beginning of a movement not only in the NFL, but across all of professional sports. It’s hard telling who will be the next NFL or pro sports teams that could be next.
It seems that leagues are starting to embrace the fact that sports betting has become more mainstream. It has become time that they accept it rather than turn the other way.
This is a great move for FanDuel, the NFL, the Denver Broncos, and the future of the sports betting industry.
