COULD MIKE TYSON WIN TODAY?

Mike Tyson recently released a video on Twitter of him training with Rafael Cordeiro. His speed and power looked as if not much has gone away. Cordeiro said this was his first time hitting the mitts in almost 10 years.

“As soon as we started training, I said ‘My lord,'” Cordeiro said to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani. “I didn’t expect what I saw. I saw a guy with the same speed and power as guys 21, 22 years old.”

At age 53, it appears Tyson still has some fight in him. Many can attest that he is far from the same aggressive person as he was in his 20s, but he still has the same skills he gained in the ring.

“I believe Mike fought against himself for a long, long time,” Cordeiro said. “He’s proud to be the Mike Tyson he is today.”

The big question still remains if he would be able to stick with the top competition of today. Would guys such as Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder still win?

More than likely, fans will never know. Even with Tyson starting to train more, it would take a lot to see him in the ring with a top talent.

His trainer says he has been working with him for some three weeks in a row, including working out with the mitts, the bag, and cardio. Training sessions are said to be between 60 and 90 minutes long.

“It’s not a joke,” Cordeiro insisted, adding there is more footage that will be released that shows ”more power, more speed, everything.”

One thing is for sure, if Tyson is set on doing something, he will more than likely do it. Pictures have surfaced comparing him last year to what he is now. He has noticeably been in the gym and getting in shape much more than before.

Could He Return?

Tyson was known for his hard punches and even earned the nickname “Iron Mike.” Heavyweight boxing had a downfall of popularity after his exit. It has just now gotten back on fans radar with the appearance of bouts between Fury and Wilder.

One thing that has changed over the years is their height. Tyson didn’t fight many guys that stood as tall as Wider and Fury.

Cordeiro still believes that in six months, Tyson could make a return if he wanted to. He mentioned the different guy that he becomes once he puts on the gloves.

When asked if “Iron Mike” could make a return, Cordeiro said, “I don’t know,” Cordeiro said, “but what I can tell you is that if he wants to do something in the future, we’ll be ready to do that, 100%.”

Tyson is far from being out of the spotlight. He still appears in movies and TV shows on a regular basis. Fans can’t forget his signature appearance in the film “The Hangover.”

Whatever happens, it’s good to see that Tyson hasn’t lost his step. He will forever be one of the most dominant heavyweights of all time.
