Patrick Ewing is likely getting fired after the season as Georgetown’s basketball coach. While there are plenty of good games to bet on Tuesday night, the Hoyas’ Big East title with DePaul stands out so much. With Georgetown welcoming the Blue Demons to D.C., this may be Ewing’s last strong chance to stop the program’s record conference losing streak.
Here’s a look at some games worth betting on Tuesday night.
DePaul Blue Demons at Georgetown Hoyas (+130)
Ewing’s struggles at Georgetown have been hard for many around the program. Ewing is a legend who was a part of the Hoyas’ last national championship team in the 1908s. But Ewing’s coaching experience before Georgetown was working 15 years bouncing around the NBA in assistant roles.
The college game has made life difficult for Ewing. This year, Georgetown is 5-15 overall and is only 4-7 straight up at home. Against the spread, the Hoyas as 7-12. Primo Spears has been a bright spot for Georgetown, averaging 16.6 points and 5.5 assists per game. Defensively, Georgetown has been abysmal, allowing 78.6 points per game.
The Blue Demons have struggled defensively, allowing 74.6 points per game. DePaul also doesn’t shoot well from the field, only making 41.8 percent of its attempts. The Blue Demons are 10-9-1 against the spread this season and only 2-6 straight up on the road. Georgetown will see the streak wrap up with a win.
Miami Hurricanes (-3) at Florida State Seminoles
The Hurricanes took a tough road loss to Duke last Saturday, while Florida State put it together in a big way to upset Pitt on the road. Miami’s best player, Isaiah Wong, struggled with a sinus infection before the loss to the Blue Devils. The Hurricanes, who are 15-4 overall, are 11-8 against the spread this season.
Florida State has started to show signs of late recently. The 7-13 Seminoles stumbled out of the gates this season and have collected consecutive wins over Notre Dame and Pitt. Florida State has covered four of the past five games against the spread.
The Seminoles would love to grab a win over their rivals, but Miami will want to bounce back with a statement win.
Missouri Tigers (+112) at Ole Miss Rebels
The Tigers have been one of the better stories during this NCAA basketball season. After many years in the wilderness, Missouri is 14-5 and has a 3-4 record in the SEC.
While the Tigers have struggled in conference play, they have shown they can beat the best teams by grabbing wins over ranked teams like Illinois, Kentucky, and Arkansas. Missouri is 5-5 against the spread this season and 1-9 against the spread overall.
The Tigers rank 13th nationally by scoring 83.1 points per game. Missouri is shooting 47.8 percent from the field, which ranks 33rd nationally. Defensively, the Tigers haven’t been as good, allowing 75.9 points per game.
Ole Miss plays at a deliberate pace, as the Rebels average 67 points per game. The Rebels only allow their opponents to score 65.5 points per game. Missouri will figure out a way to steal one on the road and even their SEC record.
