Saturday, November 20th Arkansas Razorbacks @ Alabama Crimson Tide

The two top teams in the SEC West Division will match up this afternoon. The Arkansas Razorbacks will head to Alabama to take on the Crimson Tide in this SEC West matchup. The kickoff for this game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. eastern from Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Arkansas comes into this game after winning a close one over LSU by a score of 16-13. With this win, Arkansas takes its win streak to three games.

Alabama was able to roll to an easy victory last weekend, defeating New Mexico State by a score of 59-3. Alabama takes its winning streak to four games and its overall record to 9-1.

How Can Arkansas Pull Off the Upset?

Arkansas has been relatively solid on both sides of the football this season. They are averaging 30.9 points scored while only allowing 22.9 points per game.

The one thing Arkansas has struggled with this year is beating teams that are in the top 25. Arkansas has played three games against other teams in the top 25 and has a 1-2 record.

Arkansas quarterback, K.J. Jefferson, has been solid all season. He is completing 65% of his passes, has thrown for almost 2000 yards, and has 17 touchdown passes while only throwing three interceptions.

Arkansas also features four different players who have over 400 yards rushing. Treylon Burks has been Jefferson’s favorite target, tallying 815 yards receiving and eight touchdowns.

The defense does have its own set of issues. They give up over 150 rushing yards per game while giving up less than 200 passing yards per game. Senior Montaric Brown is leading the team in interceptions with four.

This defense will be going against one of the top offenses in the nation this afternoon; it will be interesting to see if they can slow down the rushing attack of Brian Robinson Jr.

Alabama is in Must-Win Territory

There is no secret that the Crimson Tide has to win if they want to be in the College Football Playoffs. After a tough loss to Texas A&M, Alabama can’t afford another loss.

Even with a single loss, Alabama is still, arguably, the best team in college football. They have weapons at every position and one of the greatest coaches in college football history guiding them.

Bryce Young has been phenomenal under center for Alabama. He has racked up 3025 passing yards while completing 70% of his passes and recording 33 touchdown passes with just three interceptions.

Brian Robinson Jr. has been a big help in the backfield, rushing for 823 yards and scoring 14 touchdowns. Jameson Williams has been Youngs’ favorite target, recording 1028 receiving yards and ten touchdowns.

The Alabama defense has also been stout all season, giving up just 18.2 points per game. The defensive line has been one of the best in the nation, giving up just 81 rushing yards per game.

The secondary has had a few issues, giving up over 200 passing yards per game. The defensive line will be tested this afternoon, going up against one of the best rushing offenses in the nation.

Betting Analysis

  • Alabama -20½ -115
  • Arkansas +20½ -105
  • Total Points: Over 58 -115, Under 58 -105

The Razorbacks are going to have to chew the clock if they are going to keep this game competitive. They can not come out and try and throw the football all over the field and risk any turnovers. Grinding out possessions and first downs is Arkansas’ best chance of winning today.

Alabama can not have empty possessions. When they have the football, they have to score.

Trying to cover 20½ points is no easy task. If the Crimson Tide are involved in a shootout-style game, their chances steadily increase to getting the job done.

Betting Pick: Arkansas +20½ (-105)
