2010 ALL DECADE TEAM NAMED. BRADY TOPS LIST

The NFL and Pro Football Hall of Fame have named their 2010 All-Decade Team. Not unexpectedly, Tampa Bay Bucanneer’s new signing Tom Brady tops the list.

The 42-year-old long-time New England Patriots’ super star is also one of the eight players voted in unanimously.

He is the first of the two quarterbacks among the 52 players and two coaches honored. The second one is Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers. To the surprise of some, he edged out 41-year-old Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints.

Brady, who used his free agent status to move to Tampa Bay last month, topped all his NFL quarterbacks rivals during the decade in question.

He had most wins with 138, including those in the playoffs, and led the Patriots to Super Bowl titles in 2014, 2016 and 2018.

Only Brady surpassed Rodgers in NFL wins

Rodgers won the Super Bowl with the Packers in 2010 and totaled 106 victories to finish second behind Brady in wins. Against this Brees, who holds numerous passing records, has posted 99 combined victories. He too has won a Super Bowl ring (with the Saints) but that was in 2006 in the previous decade.

Along with Brady the other unanimous selections included:

  • Running back Adrian Peterson of the Washington Redskins.
  • Offensive linemen Joe Thomas (Cleveland Browns) and Marshal Yanda (Baltimore Ravens).
  • Defensive linemen J.J. Watt (Houston Texans) and Aaron Donald (Los Angeles Rams).
  • Linebacker Von Miller (Denver Broncos).
  • Kicker Justin Tucker (Baltimore Ravens).

Sproles selected in two positions

Darren Sproles, now a Philadelphia Eagles personnel executive, has become only the fourth player ever to be selected for an All-Decade Team in multiple positions. He was selected as a punt returner and an offensive flex player.

New England’s Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks were the two coaches named. Belichick joins former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Chuck Noll as one of the only two coaches to be selected for two successive All-Decade Teams.

In the 2010-2019 decade Belichick led the Patriots to the playoffs in each of its 10 seasons and won three Super Bowls with Brady as his quarterback.

Carroll coached the Seahawks to eight playoff appearances and a Super Bowl title in 2013.
