With only two games played to date, its early days yet in the best of seven-game NBA Championship finals.
Pre-tournament favorites Gold State Warriors are still the futures favorites to win their 3rd-straight NBA title. They are also favored to win Wednesday’s 3rd game in Oakland.
However, after a loss/win start in their two toughest post-season battles yet, the odds on them have slipped. From a New Jersey sportsbook average of -304, they are down to -286 with 888sport and -290 with FanDuel.
Toronto Raptors won Game 1 at home on Thursday 118-109. They then came out on Sunday and made the Warriors fight all the way to win Game 2 109-106. Betting-wise it’s no big surprise then that the odds have pretty much stayed the same heading to Oakland for Game 3.
Clearly, New Jersey’s 14 sportsbooks are holding fire on ringing the changes in the odds at this time – this also for the MWP of these Finals.
Stephen Curry is NBA Final Series’ MWP favorite
Warriors’ long-time star Stephen Curry at odds of around -554 remains the favorite of most sportsbooks. He is followed by Toronto’s Kawhi Leonard (+275), Dramond Green (+425), and still to play Kevin Durant (+2500).
There is a surprise in this Futures category, however. Pascal Siakam has been the standout star of the Toronto Raptors to date, but not everyone is acknowledging it.
New Jersey sportsbooks are all over the place with him. 888sport has him at +3300 and FanDuel way back at +5000.
Siakam, who generally opened the Final series at +4000, has been the Championship standout forward so far. He notched 32 winning points in the Raptors victory and then came back with 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists in Game 2.
Durant has had no time on court so far, but rumor has it that he’s over his calf sprain and will play in Oakland. Thompson, on the other hand, might not. His Game 2 ankle injury could stop appearing in Game 3.
In the meantime, one-time Finals MVP Andre Iguodala has seen his odds get slashed from +20,000 to odds as low as +8000 (888sport).
