SugarHouse Pennsylvania has got the jump on SugarHouse New Jersey – and indeed, all of the Garden State’s 15 sportsbooks.
It was the first Pennsylvania sportsbook to go online with both the android and iOS betting apps. Now it’s become the first sports betting operator outside of Nevada to launch a full-season NFL ‘pick’em’ contest.
And yes, this with standout prizes as it seeks to deflect attention from the arrival in Pennsylvania of FanDuel and DraftKings.
Users will pick their NFL winners on Sunday and Monday and their leaderboards will be ranked and rewarded weekly. At the end of the season, the overall winner will take home all of $125,000.
There’ll also be a twist at the end of the NFL’s 17-week season. Along with the big bonanza winner, there’ll be a prize for the ‘pick’em’ player with the most incorrect picks. He/she will get $2 500 – the same amount as the weekly winners of the contest.
SugarHouse head excited about upcoming NFL season
“We are really excited about the upcoming NFL season,” said Richard Schwartz, President of Rush Street Interactive. “And we know our players are, too.
“We wanted to make this season even more thrilling for football fans by creating a ‘pick’em’ game with huge prizes. I think we’ve done that.”
It will allow each contestant 25 entries and leading 500 contestants will all benefit from the $500 000 prize fund.
They’ll start with $125 000 for the winner, $40 000 for the runner-up and $20 000 for third place. They’ll end with the last 100 finishers of the 500 getting $175.
Although NFL football only kicks-off on September 8, contestants who enter before August 15 will have their entry fee reduced. They’ll pay $125 instead of the standard $150.
