Joseph, 27, started eight games for the Cleveland Browns in 2020 with 14 total appearances. He had one interception and made 64 tackles as the Browns returned to the playoffs for the first time in two decades. Joseph scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery against Pittsburgh in the playoffs and also had an interception in the Divisional Round loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Joseph was the 14th overall pick in the 2016 draft by the Raiders, and he was named All-Rookie with 76 tackles. He was a regular starter in Oakland through the 2019 season, but they let him test free agency after an injury, and he signed with the Browns.
Meanwhile, Randall is staying with the Seahawks and moving back to cornerback after a stint at safety. Randall signed with the Raiders in April 2020, but he was released in September. He latched on with Seattle’s practice squad and ultimately played in 10 games in 2020.
Randall was a first-round draft pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2015 out of Arizona State. He started at corner for three seasons in Green Bay before being traded to Cleveland for quarterback DeShone Kizer. Randall shifted to safety in his two seasons with the Browns, and he had four interceptions in 2018 but none in 2019.
Pro Days Ramping Up
With the NFL Draft coming up in just over two weeks (April 29 – May 1), prospects are holding their pro days, and some are having a second one. After Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields scheduled a second pro day, it is now Trey Lance’s turn. The North Dakota State quarterback got just one game in his final college season and is hoping to impress scouts on April 19.
Lance had his first showcase for NFL scouts in March, but it has been widely reported he fell behind Fields and BYU’s Zach Wilson after their impressive workouts. Fields will work out for scouts again on April 14, five days before Lance.
The San Francisco 49ers are sure to be at both workouts after trading up to the No. 3 pick. The Atlanta Falcons could look for a successor to Matt Ryan with the No. 4 pick or hold out for a bounty of draft picks from teams looking to trade up. It isn’t out of the possibility that quarterbacks go in each of the first four spots with Trevor Lawrence, Fields, Lance, Wilson, and Alabama’s Mac Jones as candidates.
Since there isn’t a centralized NFL Scouting Combine again this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the pro-day workouts have taken on an added importance. All workouts are at college pro days, and any interviews or psychological testing are virtual.
Lawrence is -10000 to be the first overall pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars on April 29. Wilson is the favorite to go second at -2000 with Fields at +1600 and Lance at +2500. Things get weird with the 49ers pick at No. 3 with Jones at -305 ahead of Fields at +250, Lance at +400, and Wilson at +1600. Over 5.5 quarterbacks taken in the first round is at +300 on DraftKings, with the under at -400.
