As we head into Week 4 of the NFL season, weather and injuries continue to impact the NFL schedule and the betting lines. Let’s take a look at three of the top stories around the league as Week 4 begins.

Hurricane Ian to Impact Bucs

Hurricane Ian is expected to make landfall in Florida’s gulf coast sometime Wednesday and continue into Thursday. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have already left the area and will practice in Miami this week. They are scheduled to host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, and the NFL is hoping the nationally televised game will go on as planned.

The Miami Dolphins play Thursday night in Cincinnati, so the situation allows for the Bucs to use the Dolphins facilities to prep for Sunday. Tampa Bay’s first practice in Miami will be on Wednesday, and then evaluate their options moving forward the rest of the week.

Both the Bucs and Chiefs lost last weekend. Tampa Bay’s offense struggled until the last drive against the Packers in a 14-12 loss. The Chiefs lost on the road to the Colts 20-17 when Patrick Mahomes was intercepted in the final 10 seconds.

The Chiefs are -2 for Sunday night’s game. The league will keep an eye on Hurricane Ian and monitor the situation heading into the weekend. Past games have been rearranged to Monday or even Tuesday because of hurricanes and blizzards.

Myles Garrett Released from Hospital

The Cleveland Browns got a scare on Monday when defensive end Myles Garrett was involved in a car accident. Garrett was in a one-car accident on his way home from the Browns’ practice facility. The NFL Network reported Garrett swerved to avoid an animal on wet roads, and his vehicle flipped multiple times.

The defensive end did not suffer any major injuries and was discharged from the hospital late Monday night. He will continue to undergo tests this week, and his status for the Browns game in Atlanta is unknown.

Garrett, a two-time All-Pro, has three sacks in three games so far this season. Cleveland held Pittsburgh to 17 points on Thursday night in a 12-point win. The Browns are -1.5 against the Falcons as they attempt to move to 3-1 on the season.

St. Brown Gets Good News

The Detroit Lions were poised to move to 2-1 on Sunday before allowing 14 unanswered points in a 28-24 loss at Minnesota. They had to play part of the game without star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who suffered an ankle injury. St. Brown returned to finish the game, but he wasn’t a factor late in the contest, clearly hampered by the ankle injury.

The Lions feared a serious injury but tests on Monday showed that St. Brown could be ready to go Sunday against Seattle. The team will continue to test St. Brown, and even if they are conservative with his return, he shouldn’t miss more than one game.

St. Brown had six catches for 73 yards on Sunday, ending a NFL-record streak of eight games with at least eight catches. So far, he has 23 catches for 253 yards and three touchdowns on the season. The Lions are -4.5 at home against the Seahawks on Sunday in a battle of 1-2 teams.
