New Jersey has just become the first US state to get a 24/7 sports betting radio station.
Longport Media LLC last week announced that WBSS-Am in Atlantic City had been transformed and re-labeled as ‘AM 1490, Sports Betting Radio’.
Longport said in a press release that AM 1490 will be the first terrestrial radio station in the country to be programmed with sports betting content 24 hours a day.
The station is affiliated to the BetR Network, distributed by Gow Media. Its format is a combination of The BetR Network’s content and soon-to-be-announced local programming. It’ll highlight news, give insight and analyze betting markets to educate and informing sports punters.
Moss, Howard, Musburger, and Lombard among broadcasters
Some well-known sports and sports-betting personalities will serve as presenters and analysts at the station. They include Mitch Moss, Paul Howard, Brent Musburger, and former NFL executive Michael Lombardi.
Paul Kelly, President, and GM at Longport Media believe that betting as a 24/7 format was perfect for AM 1490.
“There’s a real appetite for sports talk that talks about sports,” he said in the press release. “AM 1490, delivers expert analysis and information that listeners can use to make informed bets. It will help them cash winning tickets right here in Atlantic City.”
“AM 1490, Sports Betting Radio is excited to be Atlantic City’s home of the BetR Network. We are also proud to be the very first station in the entire country devoted to sports betting 24 hours a day.”
