Joe Burrow was already the bookies favorite to win College Football’s Heisman Trophy before the LSU beat Alabama 46-41 Saturday.
After his stunning performance for the Tigers in this key victory, however, he is now almost out sight of the chasing pack.
The futures odds being offered by New Jersey’s 15 online sportsbooks on Tuesday, November 13, varied somewhat. For instance Resorts Casino online had him at -1000 as against +900 for the second favorite, Justin Fields.
FanDuel had the two Heisman front-runners at -700 as against +900 and 888sport at -910 as against +1000.
Whichever way you look at those odds, though, the gap between the favorite and the rest is pretty wide right now. And this is not surprisingly so.
LSU’s star quarter-back was an absolute tour de force on Saturday. The 23-year-old son of famed NFL player and coach, Jimmy Burrow, threw for 393 yards with three TDs. He also rushed for 64 yards in LSU’s first win over always powerful Alabama since 2011.

Burrow carried off on team-mates shoulders
It was no wonder Joe Burrow was carried off the field shoulder-high by his rejoicing team mates. It was no wonder LSU head coach Ed Orgeron called him “one of the best we’ve had here.”
Second favorite Justin Fields, meanwhile, threw 200 yards with three touchdown passes and ran in one. It was another solid performance for top-ranked Ohio State who crushed Maryland 73-14.
Jalen Hurts, the third favorite of NJ sportsbooks at around +1200, also came up with a solid game. He threw for 273 yards for three TDS and ran in two more as Oklahoma edged Iowa State.
Alabama quarter-back Tua Tagovailoa is currently the 4th favorite of New Jersey’s sportsbooks. His gallant come back from surgery Saturday, however, will certainly see his Heisman odds cut if he starts repeating it. He threw for all of 418 yards and four TDs in the Sooners loss to LSU and Burrow.
Said Alabama head coach Nick Saban: “He thought he could go out and do a good job and he did just that. I think he was a warrior in terms of what he did.”
