The FanDuel Group, which operates the New Jersey sportsbook market leader, has appointed Lainie Cooney as Chief People Officer.
In this new post, she will be responsible for directing and developing the company’s global people strategy.
Cooney brings to FanDuel, also a Daily Sport Fantasy giant, more than 25 years in human resources management.
Mostly she has focused on designing and executing human resource strategies. Operational excellence, change and performance management, and talent acquisition were her special fields.
Cooney comes to FanDuel from the Blue Apron
She comes to FanDuel from Blue Apron, the operator of a meal-kit service where she was Chief Human Resources Officer. Her HR team included 60 people and her department was responsible for the company’s people strategy.
“Lainie brings a passion for our business and a wealth of experience we can only benefit from,” said FanDuel CEO Matt King. “I am excited to add her to the senior leadership team. As we continue to grow globally, Lainie’s expertise will be invaluable.”
Cooney earned an MA in Clinical Psychology and Advanced Doctoral Studies at the California School of Professional Psychology.
She is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a Six Sigma Black Belt. She is to be based in FanDuel’s Los Angeles offices.
