BILLS WIN AFC EAST FOR FIRST TIME IN 25 YEARS

With a win over Denver on Saturday night, the Buffalo Bills clinched their first AFC East title in 25 years.

The year was 1995. Toy Story (the first one) was just released. Blink-182 just released its debut album. Amazon had just sold its first book online.

Things were a lot different back then, but there’s one thing that year has in common with 2020 — the Buffalo Bills were AFC East Champions.

It’s been a long wait for Buffalo Bills fans from all over. It’s something the entire city of Buffalo deserves, especially through all the heartbreak they’ve gone through the past few decades.

Now that Tom Brady has packed his bags and left the division, the Buffalo Bills are AFC East champs once again!

The Bills have been nothing short of incredible this year. Led by Josh Allen, they’re proving all the doubters wrong.

Head coach Sean McDermott has taken this team to the playoffs in three of his four years with the team, and his squad is just getting started. Watch out, NFL world; the Buffalo Bills are here.

Allen Leads Buffalo to Victory vs. Broncos

Aside from penalties, Buffalo played a sound game on Saturday night, beating the Broncos 48-19. Josh Allen was on point all night long, the Bills rushing attack was hitting on all cylinders, and their defense was stingy from opening kickoff to the closing whistle.

Allen finished with 359 yards, two passing touchdowns, and no interceptions. He also had 33 yards on the ground and two rushing touchdowns.

Devin Singletary and Zack Moss combined for 149 yards and a touchdown out of the backfield. Stefon Diggs had 147 reception yards, while Cole Beasley finished with 112.

On defense, the Bills recorded three sacks, as Ed Oliver, Tre’Davious White, and Mario Addison each had one.

White’s sack led to a fumble, which was recovered by Jerry Hughes and taken to the house for a defensive touchdown. It was Buffalo’s second defensive touchdown in as many games.

Are the Bills a True Contender?

The Bills are proving that they’re for real and should be taken seriously from this point forward. Allen is currently in the process of breaking just about every Buffalo record out there — along with Diggs. They’re the new Jim Kelly-Andre Reed duo that Buffalo has waited for.

With that said, the Bills defense is also playing strong. They’re starting to come together after a tough start to the season.

This team has always been a defensive team. Now that they have the offense rolling consistently, the defense is the one thing they need.

If they continue playing the way they have been these past four weeks, the Bills could go all the way. There aren’t many teams that can match their offense. The few that can match their offense don’t have the defense the Bills do — or the passion.

With the AFC East Division officially in their possession, the Bills can turn their focus to the playoffs. They still have a lot they want to accomplish before that happens, but the pressure is off for now.

The main thing moving forward is finding a way to stay crisp and maintain that consistency that has gotten them this far.
