The Kansas City Chiefs are the hottest team in the NFL not named the Pittsburgh Steelers. At 10-1, they’re looking to keep their current six-game winning streak alive.
Who stands in their way? The lowly Denver Broncos, who are looking for revenge against this Chiefs squad.
The two met on Oct. 25, but it wasn’t much of a matchup. The Chiefs came out swinging and took a 24-9 lead at the half.
They outscored the Broncos 19-7 in the second half and won the game 43-16. It was the second (and most recent) time the Chiefs scored 40 or more points this season.
Despite the big score, Patrick Mahomes wasn’t as dominant as normal. Then again, he didn’t have to be.
He finished with 200 yards and a touchdown, but it was his defense and special teams that came through with a pick-six and kickoff-return touchdown.
Will the Chiefs win their seventh in a row?
Mahomes is having yet another phenomenal season with the Chiefs. He currently has 3,497 yards on the season, including 30 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He’s a front-runner for the league MVP trophy and continues to prove that week in and week out.
Tyreek Hill is a big reason for Mahomes’ success. He has already passed the 1,000-yard mark with 1,021 yards and 13 touchdowns thus far.
Travis Kelce is adding to that dominance and is nearing that milestone himself. He currently has 978 yards and seven touchdowns.
Look for these three players to get rolling on offense. I think they’ll run up the score and make it difficult for Denver’s defense to catch a break in this one.
Can the Broncos get their revenge?
The Broncos were subject to a tough situation last week when they were left without a quarterback on their roster due to COVID-19. That won’t be the case this Sunday night, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be in any better position to win against a dominant Chiefs team led by Mahomes.
Drew Lock has just 1,767 yards, seven touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in a season that some were calling him a potential dark horse MVP candidate early on. Those same people thought the Broncos would be a force in the AFC, but they’re just 4-7 and likely out of the playoffs.
Betting Odds & Lines
Who do you think gets the job done during Week 13’s installment of Sunday Night Football? FanDuel Sportsbook has the Chiefs as 13.5-point favorites over the Broncos. It also has the over/under listed at 50.5 total points.
Free Betting Pick
The Chiefs average more than 31 points per game and over 430 yards per game on offense but only give up 21.6 points and 370 yards per game. On the other hand, the Broncos score under 20 points per game and give up 27 points per game.
I don’t think the Broncos stand much of a chance in this one — even with a 13.5-point spread. Many believe Lock is primed for a big game, but I don’t see it.
The Chiefs’ defense limited him to no touchdowns and two interceptions last time out. Expect much of the same.
Final Score Prediction 34-13, Kansas City Chiefs.
Pick: Kansas City Chiefs (-13.5)
