The Dallas Cowboys will go up against the Washington Football Team in one of the early afternoon matchups on Sunday. The game will begin at 1 pm ET on FOX.
This will be a battle against two struggling teams in the NFC East, though it seems that every team in this division is struggling.
The Philadelphia Eagles topped the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football, and the Eagles are now alongside the Cowboys with two wins. However, the Cowboys can retake the top spot in the division with a win in this one.
The Washington Football Team only has one win on the year, which was against the Eagles in Week 1. If they can get another win or two this season, it may have to be against a fellow NFC East opponent.
Cowboys Hurting Without Prescott
Dak Prescott’s season-ending injury was a huge blow to this Cowboys team. They weren’t winning with him, but the offense was still putting up points.
Now, Andy Dalton has to step in and try to take this team to the playoffs. He will have the help of one of the top backs in the league in Ezekiel Elliott.
Elliott is going to have to carry the ball more and make a bigger impact without Prescott, but he has failed to do so yet. Last week against the Cardinals, he was having issues holding on to the football. This Dallas team cannot afford careless turnovers.
If the Cardinals game last week was any indication of how the rest of the season is going to go for the Cowboys, they are in trouble. This could be a rough first year for Mike McCarthy.
Washington Tries for Second Win
Washington started the year 1-0 after beating the Eagles but hasn’t won a game since. Coach Ron Rivera has been a bit unsure of who to support as the starting quarterback.
“It does look a little inconsistent, but the consistency is that I’m going to make them based on what I know, on my gut feeling on things,” Rivera said. “Hopefully, they’re good decisions. If they’re not, we’ll know, and I’ll take responsibility, that’s for doggone sure.”
Dwayne Haskins Jr. is still developing, but it seems that Kyle Allen will be the starter for now.
Prediction
This is a one-win team facing a two-win team. Neither has much good to go on. The Cowboys are one-point favorites.
I believe the Cowboys will fix some of the issues they had in Arizona and beat Washington. I don’t think the Cowboys can beat many teams in the league right now, but Washington is one of the few.
I am taking the Cowboys to win and cover the one-point spread.
The over/under for this game is 47.5. While neither offense is much to brag about, neither are the defenses.
I like for these teams to go back and forth a bit with poor defensive play. I’ll also take the over.
