The Thursday night game for Week 7 will be between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles. Kickoff is at 8:20 pm ET on FOX and the NFL Network.
These two teams haven’t been accustomed to winning this season. The good news for both is that something has to give on Thursday as they each cannot tally another loss (maybe a tie). The NFC East has been terrible, and fans wonder who will make it to the playoffs between the four teams.
There is no doubt that whoever makes the postseason out of the division probably doesn’t deserve it. The NFC East has been so bad that many talk and radio shows have taken shots at the current playoff format. A 6-10 team from the East could potentially make the playoffs over a 10-6, 2nd or 3rd place team from a different NFC division.
Can the Giants win Two in a Row?
Last week, the Giants were able to pick up their first win. However, it was to the Washington Football Team, a fellow NFC East opponent. After losing Saquon Barkley, nothing has gone right for the Giants.
Quarterback Daniel Jones has twice the number of interceptions than he does touchdowns, a stat that he is not proud of. He has three touchdown passes this season, all of which are to his favorite target, Darius Slayton.
It is hard to believe that the Giants will put themselves in the conversation for the top spot in the NFC East with a win here. With Dak Prescott going down for the Cowboys, there is no guessing what can happen in this division.
Can the Eagles Recover?
The best guess of who will come out of the NFC East has to be the Eagles. They probably have the best team after Prescott got injured for Dallas. Philadelphia also still has a coach that has led them to a Super Bowl win.
The Eagles have had plenty of injury problems this season, which has played a part in them only having one win so far. Miles Sanders and Alshon Jeffrey are out Thursday.
Carson Wentz has been missing Jeffrey as a target, as if anyone can top Jones’ interception numbers, it is the Philadelphia quarterbck. While Wentz does have eight touchdown passes, he also has nine interceptions. Nine!
The only win for the Eagles was against the San Francisco 49ers, and that was when they were without Jimmy Garoppolo. They also tied with the Bengals, which is just terrible to see happen in an NFL game.
Prediction
The Eagles enter this game as the favorite, with the spread at -4.5. The over/under is set at 45.
If there is a team in this division that can bounce back, I like it to be the Eagles. They still have some great pieces and need to recover from injuries.
On the other hand, there doesn’t seem to be much hope for the Giants this year. I am taking the Eagles to win and cover the spread.
I don’t believe either of these offenses will come out looking great, so I’m also taking the under. This game could be an ugly one to watch, and a bet will have to be placed for any entertainment.
