The NHL schedule is light Wednesday night. There are only three games available for bettors to get money down on. While there is a lack of variety, the night doesn’t lack for compelling matchups. Here’s a look at what to bet on Wednesday night on the NHL schedule.
Winnipeg Jets at New York Islanders (-120)
Perhaps a come-from-behind win over a division rival can jumpstart the Islanders. New York won in Pittsburgh Monday night — the Islanders’ second win over the Penguins in three days — to pick up some momentum. New York hasn’t beaten another opponent since taking down the Seattle Kraken on February 7.
Winnipeg has been mostly treading water over the past month. The Jets are 5-5 over their last ten games but have been a decent road team this season, compiling a 15-13-1 record away from home. Winnipeg is wrapping up the last of a four-game eastern road swing.
The Islanders are dependent on keeping their opponents off the scoreboard. New York limits its opponents to 2.92 goals per game and hold its foes to 2.77 per game. The Islanders will grind out a close win to win back-to-back games for the first time in a while.
Chicago Blackhawks at Dallas Stars over 6
The Stars have been sputtering recently. Dallas has lost four straight games and been limited to two goals or less in all four games. Especially distressing for the Stars is two of those games went into overtime, and Dallas still wasn’t able to put up more goals.
Dallas is catching a bad Chicago team at the right time. The Blackhawks allow 3.59 goals per game. The Stars typically scored 3.19 goals per game. Chicago, meanwhile, is on a rare run of success.
The Blackhawks have won three straight games and scored three or more goals in each game. With how well Chicago is playing, this game should have the potential to go over the total. The Blackhawks will pocket a few goals to push this total over the number.
Calgary Flames (-195) at Arizona Coyotes
The Flames are headed to Arizona in the midst of a stretch that has the Flames teetering on the edge of the Wild Card in the Western Conference. Calgary has gone 4-4-2 over its past ten games and took a disappointing loss to Philadelphia Four of Calgary’s last five games have gone over the total.
The Flames have relied on their defense this season, only allowing 2.98 goals per game. Calgary netminder Jacob Markstrom has had his share of struggles between the pipes this season. He ranks 30th in the league with a .889 save percentage. The Coyotes have had a difficult season, waiting for their new arena to be built and playing at a college venue.
Arizona will have heavy legs entering this game. The Coyotes are coming off three days of rest, but have played six games that have gone to overtime during their past 10. Calgary will take advantage and get a win.
