SUPER BOWL: NOBODY DESERVES IT MORE THAN ANDY REID

Kansas City Chiefs won their first Super Bowl in half a century on Sunday when they beat San Francisco 49ers.

But it was close. Oh so close! Chiefs hit back from a 20-10 deficit with just seven minutes to full time to snatch a last-gasp 31-20 victory. And who did Chiefs owner Clark Hunt have most to thank for it?

“Nobody deserves this trophy more than Andy Reid,” he said of the Chiefs 61-year-old, bespectacled and moustachioed head coach. Reid has won often and in fact his victory on Sunday gave him a record 222 NFL win. No other coach has won as many matches.

However, for all of his 21 years with Chiefs, before Sunday the Super Bowl had been his Nemesis. It led to him being termed ‘the best head coach never to have won the Super Bowl or an NFL Championship.

Reid made it into the 2005 Super Bowl but lost it

Until Sunday, the closest he had come was in 2005 when his Philadelphia Eagles lost the Super Bowl to the New England Patriots. He joined the Chiefs in 2013 after 14 years with the Philadelphia Eagles. Now finally he has broken the drought and he’s the proud owner of a Super Bowl Ring.

“It’s a beautiful trophy and I can’t think of a better conclusion to the 100th season of the NFL than receiving this trophy,” Hunt said during the trophy presentation.

“I’m so happy for our players, our coaches and our fans. And especially Andy Reid. Nobody deserves this trophy more than he does.

“I want to thank the lord for blessing our family with all these incredible people, who helped bring this championship home.”

“To the Chiefs kingdom,” he said making out like he was raising a glass. “You guys are world champions once again.”
