Scoring a touchdown in a playoff game is a dream of every NFL player. Starting with Wild Card weekend, athletes from 14 teams will have the opportunity to leave their mark in the postseason. Here’s a look at a few players worth betting on to find paydirt.
Keenan Allen, WR, Los Angeles Chargers, +167
The Chargers’ star wide receiver didn’t play during the regular season’s first meeting between Los Angeles and Jacksonville. In that game, the Chargers could have used Allen’s help in a 38-10 loss. Allen will definitely play an important role in the game this time around.
Los Angeles will be without wide receiver Mike Williams, who injured his back in the regular season finale against Denver. The Chargers are unafraid to throw the ball, as Los Angeles had the third-most passing yards per game in the regular season. Allen will get plenty of opportunities to add a postseason touchdown to his resume. He has three touchdown catches in four career postseason games.
Stefon Diggs, WR, Buffalo Bills, -112
The game between Buffalo and Miami could be ugly. The Bills are relatively healthy compared to the Dolphins, who will be playing without starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Buffalo wide receiver Keenan Allen had a dynamic regular season, hauling in 108 passes for 1,429 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Over the course of Allen’s career, he has had 48 catches in 10 postseason games. Since coming to Buffalo, Diggs has been targeted 41 times in five playoff games and has made 26 catches. Diggs has four career postseason touchdowns. Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen will find Diggs for at least one touchdown against their divisional rival.
Joe Mixon, RB, Cincinnati Bengals, +106
The Bengals’ running game has had an up-and-down season. Mixon was held below four yards per carry this season and only cracked the 100-yard mark once. However, Mixon was still able to find the endzone seven times on the ground.
During Cincinnati’s season finale, Mixon scored a touchdown in a game where he only rushed for 27 yards. During Mixon’s four career playoff games, he has thrown for a touchdown and rushed for one. He memorably threw the touchdown pass in last year’s Super Bowl.
CeeDee Lamb, WR, Dallas, Cowboys, +138
Lamb has become a top target for Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott over the course of his career. He has made 107 catches for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns this season. Getting another shot at Tampa Bay’s defense will be an interesting challenge for Dallas. The Cowboys couldn’t score a touchdown against the Buccaneers in the season opener.
Lamb was limited to two catches for 29 yards, which was by far his worst performance of the season. While Tampa Bay’s defense is still tough, the Buccaneers may run out of gas as the offense has a hard time staying on the field. The Cowboys will find a way to score multiple touchdowns against Tampa Bay, Lamb will get one of them.
