The reigning New England Patriots are no longer everybody’s favorite to successfully defend Super Bowl LIV.
A day before Thanks Giving they mostly remained the New Jersey sports book Super Bowl favorite. The state’s market leader FanDuel, for example, had them tops at +300, 888sport at +280 and Unibet at+290.
But there was an exception. It was the Resorts Casino online sportsbook which, like Nevada’s Westgate SuperBook , preferred the Baltimore Ravens.
Resorts have installed the Ravens as their new favorites at odds +335 – a shade better than Westgate’s +350. Against this the New Jersey sportsbook has given Patriots odds of +350, followed by New Orleans Saints at +550.
Then come the San Francisco 49ers at +550 followed by Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks at +100.
Ravens 45-6 victory Monday influential
Resorts’ against-the-flow odds have clearly been influenced by two recent standout performances. The first was Baltimore’s 37-20 upset victory over the Patriots in Week 9. The second was the 45-6 drubbing they administered to the LA Rams on Monday night.
Seems these two victories have also influenced the ESPN ‘s latest NFL Power Rankings.
ESPN have rated the Ravens (9-2) as their No 1 team heading into Week 13 when they’ll play the San Francisco 49ers.
The Patriots with a better record of 10 wins to one loss, have been relegated to third, largely because their offence has been lacking lately. Not altogether surprisingly, ESPN’s No 2 ranked NFL team is the 49ers, also at 10-1.
The Ravens are ranked highest, in ESPN’s view, because right now their offence is looking unstoppable. The 49ers (also 10-1) are next best, on the other hand, because their defense is looking unbeatable. Their clash of these two top ranked leaders on Sunday should therefore be an epic battle.
49ers favored to beat Seahawks Sunday
For this game Resorts have the 49ers as favorites at -280 as against +220 for Seattle with their under/over total at 47.
Resorts seem to believe the current position won’t prevail and that the Patriots will bounce back before the play-offs.
This is evident in their futures odds for the AFC Conference title. Like most of their fellow New Jersey sports book rivals, they favor New England at -105. Against this the Ravens’ odds on winning are +200.
Seattle Seahawks and the higher, power-ranked 49ers are Resorts joint favorites at +224 to win the NFC Conference final.
