POINTSBET NAMED AS FINALIST FOR HASHTAG AWARDSNJSportsbook Editor

PointsBet, newest of New Jersey’s 14 sportsbooks, has been named as a finalist for an inaugural Hashtag Sports Award.

The Australian upstart has made the finals on the strength of its ‘Good Karma Payouts’ initiative. It has been shortlisted to win the ‘Best Integrated Campaign’ category which also includes FIFA, Bose and Los Angeles Galaxy.

Presented by Budweiser, the winner of the Hashtag Awards will be announced on June 25 at Times Centre in New York City.

PointsBet has been giving punters ‘Good Karma’ relief when highly unusual or unfair circumstances have inadvertently influenced a result.

Since launching in the Garden State at the beginning of the year, PointsBet’s has made a number of these payouts.

First Good Karma payout made after Saints-Rams controversy

The first came after the Saints lost to the LA Rams because of a missed interference penalty in a key NFL game. Another came after the San Jose Sharks beat the St. Louis Blues thanks to an uncalled hand pass.

Yet another followed North Carolina’s upset NCAA victory over Duke when kingpin Zion Williamson was injured after only 33 seconds.

Explaining Good Karma Payouts, Johnny Aitken US CEO of PointsBet, said: “We wanted to foster a new way of operating.

“We wanted to have the back of our clients. Our Karma Kommittee meets each morning at 7 am to discuss the previous day’s sporting events. Then we rule on the ‘Good Karma Payouts’
