New Jersey Sportsbook Revenue Dipped in April

New Jersey has reported a decline in sports betting revenue in April as against the previous month.

But it’s no surprise – and it’s certainly not a train smash.

NJ’s casinos and race tracks and the 14 online sportsbooks licensed through them brought in total revenue of R21.2m In April. This compared unfavorably with its record revenue of $31.7m in the previous month – but not without good reason.

Every year the ‘March Madness’ betting frenzy that accompanies the US College Basketball playoffs sets betting revenue soaring. It invariably out-performs even the NFL’s Super Bowl February and this year was no exception.

FanDuel strengthened its lead in the NJ betting market

FanDuel sportsbook, licensed through Meadowlands Race Track, further entrenched itself as the NJ sportsbooks market leaders. Its revenue for April of $12.1m put it well clear of its closest competitors

With $4.7m DraftKings and partner Resorts Digital took second place with the Monmouth Park/ William Hill third with $2.6m.

Ocean Resort fell just short of the million-dollar revenue mark in April. It ended the month with $837,730.

New Jersey’s total gaming revenue for April amounted to $265.4m which was also down on March’s figure ($294m)

Land-based casinos were once more the main source of income – and by some distance. They generated $207.6m in April with $144.9m coming from slots and $62.7m from table games. Against this, New Jersey sportsbooks generated $21.2m.
