Yankees, Phillies Are New Jersey’s Big Favorites

Yankees, Phillies Are New Jersey’s Big FavoritesAs pro baseball gets going and zooms into focus close up and personal, here are some important facts to know.

For starters, the Yankees and Phillies are New Jersey’s two biggest NBA favorites – in more ways than one.

On the one hand, they are the favorites of New Jersey’s many thousands of baseball fans. On the other, it’s of the Garden State’s 13 sports bookmakers. At least this was so on April 5.

Let’s start with the NJ fans. In the north where New York is their neighbor, it’s the NY Yankees they mostly root for. The NY Mets also have some northern and central New Jersey support, but nothing to compare with the Yankees.

As you head south towards Philadelphia, however, you’ll find the majority yelling their lungs out for the Phillies.

We move on now to the New Jersey’s bookmakers. Currently, they’ve established the Yankees as their favorite to win the 2019 World Series with the Phillies not too far behind.

Yankees at +500 are NJ bookie favorites to win World Series

On money-line bets, the bookmakers have the Yankees at around +500 and the Phillies there at about +1000.

At least two NJ sportsbooks are offering better odds on the Phillies. FanDuel, currently the NJ sportsbook market leaders, has them at +1200 and international giant William Hill at +1100.

At +600, FanDuel is also offering some of the better money-line odds on the Yankees. At +2100 they are also doing so on the Mets though DraftKings, at +2500, beat them on this one.

Turning to the players and prop bets, we see a lot of big names and interesting wagers.

NJ’s BetStars, for instance, is offering even money for big banger Giancarlo Stanton to hit 46 home runs or more this season. Arron Judge, however, is the favorite of most New Jersey bookies to get the annual American League MVP award.

He’s +1000 with the majority of them. Stanton is around +1800 on the same sportsbooks with a high of + 2200 on BetStars.

Severino favored to win American League pitching award

Luis Severino, meanwhile, is the Yankee player most likely to win the Cy Young Award for best American League pitcher.

At +1000, he’s the 3rd choice of sportsbooks like Play SugarHouse and DraftKings.

Bryce Harper, meantime is the favorite to take home his second National League MVP award. Most bookies have him listed at +400.  Team-mate Rhys Hoskins is also in the mix, but at a distant 20/1.

Aaron Nola is another in the Cy Young picture. FanDuel has the best price on him at +9000.

DeGrom is  in the 2019 Cy Young picture

For the Mets, Jacob DeGrom is the man with the best chance of another Cy Young, The best price on him was FanDuel’s and PointsBet’s +350

Not all New Jersey sportsbooks offer the same prop bet options. It’s best then that you look around for those that best suit you.

In New Jersey, which led the fight against the prohibition of sports betting, you’ll find more than a dozen options.

Latest on a list that continues to grow, is the out-of-Australia sportsbook PointsBet

“We expect Baseball to be extremely popular and unlock a new set of betting clients,” said Ron Shell, VP of Customer Insights at PointsBet. “We recently surveyed over 500 customers and 95% answered they would be betting on the Baseball season.”

Among many other wagers, PointsBet will offer ’Let It Fly’ bets for some games. For this,  bettors will be able to earn $10 bonus bets for each home run their favored team hits.
