The injury news was tough around the league for Week 4. It started Thursday night with the devastating head injury to Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and continued through the weekend.

The Denver Broncos lost running back Javonte Williams for the season while Atlanta Falcons running back Cordarrelle Patterson also left injured.

Williams to Miss Rest of 2022

The already struggling Denver offense took a big blow on Sunday when Williams left the game with a knee injury. Denver confirmed the diagnosis on Monday as Williams is out for the season with ligament tears.

Veteran Melvin Gordon will take over as the starter, but he has had his troubles this season too. Gordon’s fumble on Sunday was returned for a Raiders touchdown, and he’s lost four fumbles this season, most in the NFL for a non-quarterback.

Denver added veteran Latvius Murray from the Saints practice squad and also have Mike Boone on the roster. Boone got the bulk of the work on Sunday after Williams went down. Murray played for the Saints in London on Sunday after Alvin Kamara was listed as inactive, and he had 58 yards on 11 carries.

Without Williams, the Broncos (2-2) are still favored at home on Thursday against the Colts (1-2-1). They opened at -3 against another team, struggling on offense.

Pickett to Start for Steelers

Sitting in last place in the AFC North, the Pittsburgh Steelers are moving to the future with Kenny Pickett as quarterback. Pickett replaced Mitch Trubisky during Sunday’s home loss to the New York Jets. The 20th overall pick in April’s draft threw three interceptions against the Jets but also ran for two touchdowns and finished 10-for-13 for 120 yards.

Mitch Trubisky, who won the QB battle in the preseason, was 7-for-13 for 84 yards and an interception in the first half Sunday. He had two touchdown passes on the season with two interceptions and only surpassed 200 yards in one game.

Pickett will make his first start in a hostile environment as the Steelers head to Buffalo this weekend. The Steelers are +14 as they take on the 3-1 Bills.

Prescott Not Ready Yet

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager claims that Dak Prescott is not yet ready to return to action in Week 5. Head coach Mike McCarthy hasn’t ruled Prescott out just yet, but it appears as if Cooper Rush will be under center on Sunday in Los Angeles against the Rams

Rush has been fantastic for the Cowboys, with a 3-0 record this season and an overall 4-0 mark as a starter. On Sunday, he was 15–of-27 for 223 yards and two touchdowns to beat Washington 25-10. Rush doesn’t have an interception in 105 attempts, and he’s completed 61% of his passes for 737 yards.

Prescott was hurt in the opener against Tampa Bay, a 19-3 loss. He had surgery on his thumb after going 14-of-29 for 134 yards and one interception. The Cowboys are +4.5 against the defending champions in Week 5 and will head to Philadelphia in Week 6.
