FanDuel sign partnership deal with NHL

Fanduel to partner with National Hockey League (NHL)FanDuel and the National Hockey League (NHL) have announced that they have entered into a long-term agreement that will set up FanDuel as the exclusive official partner of the NHL.

FanDuel, which runs a thriving, nation-wide daily fantasy operation for 8 million fans and recently opened one of New Jersey first legal sportsbooks, has also signed a partnership agreement with the New Jersey Devils, its first-ever sports betting partnership with an NHL team.

The NHL agreement, said FanDuel, will give their sports betting and daily fantasy arms the chance to give their millions of customer’s access to exclusive NHL content and prizes such as VIP tickets to standout Winter Classic and other All-Star games.

Said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman about the new agreement; “We are continuing to be progressive in our approach to the sports betting category, working directly with the industry and focusing on innovative opportunities for fan engagement.

“Teaming up with an industry leader like FanDuel furthers our strategy of aligning with leading brands that share our vision of using new platforms and technology to drive innovation and engage and excite hockey fans.”

Replying to Bettman, Matt King, CEO of the FanDuel Group, said; “Joining forces with the National Hockey League was the perfect next step for us as both our sports betting and fantasy sports businesses continue to grow.

“The League’s clear vision for these categories and this partnership marks an exciting time for both organizations.”

To tie the bow on their NHL package, FanDuel will soon run a “Skate to the NHL Winter Classic” competition in which registered members can enter daily fantasy contests on FanDuel to win a VIP trip to the 2019 NHL Winter Classic between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins at Notre Dame Stadium on New Year’s Day.

Conclusion

As a result of their agreement with the New Jersey Devils, FanDuel will be given wide brand exposure during the Devils’ entire home games through an in-ice logo utilizing one of the newly available advertising positions introduced earlier this year by the NHL.

The partnership with the Devils will, among other opportunities, allow the FanDuel sportsbook to highlight its increasingly popular “Live In-Play” betting options.

“We will continue to be at the forefront of the action for hockey fans, whether they’re watching it from a seat in the arena or at home on TV,” said Kip Levin, COO of the FanDuel Group.

“Our partnership with the New Jersey Devils allows us to be on the ice during the action and in-game messaging is the perfect way to reach hockey fans during the games.”
