The National League Cy Young Award race is heating up. There is not much time left in the MLB regular season in 2022, and the playoff picture is becoming more clear by the day. Not all the time in baseball do we have Cy Young winners on playoff teams.

This is also the case with MVPs in each League because the sport is such a long 162 games regular season. With it almost being the month of September and with the postseason set to begin in October, who are the Top 4 favorites to potentially win the NL Cy Young Award this season?

Sandy Alcantara, Miami Marlins -700

Sandy Alcantara of the Miami Marlins is the betting favorite to win the National League Cy Young Award this season. He is always a threat to shut out other teams opposing offenses. Alcantara is one of the brighter spots on this Marlins baseball team.

Miami will not be making the playoffs in the National League, and they are currently in fourth place in the NL East, with the Philadelphia Phillies, the Atlanta Braves, and the New York Mets all ahead of them.

Sandy Alcantara’s record in 24 games so far this season is 11-5 with a 1.92 ERA. In 173.0 innings pitched, he has given up 120 hits and 44 runs. Alcantara has also walked only 43 batters and has struck out 152.

Tony Gonsolin, Los Angeles Dodgers +3000

Tony Gonsolin of the Los Angeles Dodgers is a part of a stacked starting rotation and the best team in all of baseball. He has been one of the biggest surprises in all of baseball this season in terms of starting pitching.

Gonsolin is going to play a big part for the Dodgers down the stretch, and he may not be the only NL Cy Young candidate on this baseball team. Tony Gonsolin has pitched in 22 games so far this season for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has a 15-1 record with a 2.12 ERA.

In 123.1 innings pitched, Gonsolin has only given up 73 hits and 30 runs. Gonsolin has only walked 33 batters and has struck out 113. His ERA was under 2 for various stretches of the MLB regular season.

Julio Urias, Los Angeles Dodgers +8000

Julio Urias might be the Game 1 starter in the MLB postseason for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Urias has been very good all season long for Los Angeles, and they are going to be a problem for anyone in the postseason because they might have the best starting rotation in all of baseball.

In 23 games pitched so far this season, Julio Urias’s record is 13-6 with a 2.40 ERA. In 127.2 innings pitched so far this season, he has given up 99 hits and 41 runs. Urias has only walked 26 batters and has also struck out 123.

Corbin Burnes, Milwaukee Brewers +950

Corbin Burnes was the National League Cy Young Award winner a season ago and is in the conversation for it once again in 2022. Milwaukee is currently in the NL Central and NL Wild Card race, but they may miss the playoffs this season.

Burnes has been on top of his game for quite some time. In 24 games pitched so far this season, he has a 9-5 record with a 2.48 ERA.

In 148.2 innings pitched, he has given up 99 hits and 45 runs. Corbin Burnes has also given up 40 walks and 187 strikeouts.
