The Texas Rangers will head to New York to take on the Mets in this cross-league baseball matchup. The first pitch for this game is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. eastern from Citi Field.

The Rangers currently find themselves in second in the American League West. While it is clear the Astros are by far the best team in that division; three teams are jockeying for that second spot.

The Mets are the first-place team out of the National League East division. While it looks like the Braves and the Phillies could catch up in a heartbeat, the Mets hold their own destiny.

Rangers/Mets Betting Trends

  • The Mets currently control a majority of the moneyline bets.
  • This will be the first meeting in two years for these two teams.
  • The Rangers have won five of their last ten games.
  • Texas games have been under in five of their last ten games.
  • The Mets have won four of their last ten games.
  • New York games have been over in four of their last ten games.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers have finally gotten healthy, and their lineup is starting to come together. While they are not on the same level as the Houston Astros in their division, the Rangers are hopeful their mix of youth and veterans can make them at least competitive.

As a team, the Rangers find themselves right around the middle of the pack for almost all team stats. They are 18th in batting average (.239), 16th in runs per game (4.39), and 16th in team ERA (3.91).

Nathaniel Lowe is having a great season for the Rangers. The first-year prospect is hitting .278 with ten home runs to go along with 32 RBIs.

Corey Seager is the player the Rangers have that everyone needs to keep their eyes on. In his first year with the club, Seager has not quite met the expectations based on the contract he signed; however, when it clicks, and he gets hot, expect the Rangers to be an even better team.

Glen Otto is the probable starting pitcher for the Rangers. Otto has started nine games and has a 5-3 record. Otto’s ERA is currently at 5.31 and has a walk-to-strikeout ratio of 13:17.

New York Mets

The Mets find themselves in a great spot as the first half of the season ends very quickly. They sit atop the standing for the National League East and will compete for the top spot in the National League.

The offense is the Mets’ best part of their game. They are fourth in runs per game at 4.82 and fourth in team batting average at .256.

Pete Alonso has been struggling as of late, but a strong start has kept him in the conversation for NL MVP. He is hitting .280, with 22 home runs, and has 69 RBIs.

Jeff McNeil has been red hot for the Mets. He has collected at least one hit in nine of their last ten games while also adding four extra-base hits.

Chris Bassitt is the projected starter for the Mets this evening. He has started 15 games and has a 6-5 record. Bassitt’s ERA is at 4.01, and he is coming off his last three solid starts going six or more innings in all three.

Rangers/Mets Betting Prediction

The Mets are the clear favorite in this game, and it is tough to see it any other way. As long as the Mets offense plays just average baseball, they should win this game.

Otto is coming off his worst start of the season as well, lasting just two innings against the Nationals, who are nowhere near as good of an offensive team like the Mets. When making your MLB picks, take the New York Mets moneyline.
